| Building programme update – September 2009 |
You will of course be very aware of the current extensive building works that appear to surround the school, and around which we are all having to work. In one of the their first letters (link please Kelly – 16 Sept letter) our new Co-Headteachers outlined the practical considerations we face as these important works improve the fabric and facilities of our school for everyone’s benefit, and this note is to bring you current details of progress.
Phase I – the integral changes to the offices and administration facilities are proceeding very well and, we are advised, are on track for completion by early November, just after half term holiday. Completion of this work will provide a much-improved Reception area in which Mrs Pickford will be better placed to greet visitors and direct people within the school; there will also be significant improvements to staff room facilities and a more appropriate Head’s office.
Phase II – although this visibly consists of two new, modern classrooms extending out beyond the last two built, there are also substantial changes to the Hall which are (for reasons of safety) concealed behind a temporary wall. The new classrooms will, in the style of their counterparts, provide large, bright and well equipped environments for the children and staff. The enlarged Hall will provide a more flexible space for day-to-day use as well as for bigger events such as plays and other productions; with improved stage access, additional under-stage storage and better & integrated lighting I’m sure we’ll all notice and appreciate this. Phase II is scheduled for completion in February 2010 and, again, is currently proceeding to plan.

| GOVERNING BODY CHANGES - September 2009 |
At the recent Full Governing Body meeting there was the usual annual election and Mrs Tessa Quelch has been appointed as our new Chair of Governors; we congratulate Tessa and wish her well as she leads the Governing Body with the support of all her fellow Governors. Also, Mr Declan Haverty was elected as our new Vice Chair.
We wish to place on record the enormous debt of gratitude that Holy Trinity and the whole Governing Body owes to Ms Wyn Brack as previous Chair, assisted by Mr Jim Brennan as previous Vice Chair, over the many years they have played such active and important roles in supporting the school and its leaders, and we know they will continue to play important roles in supporting the school. |

| New Co-Headteachers |
in which the text is “The Governors are delighted to announce that Mrs Ann-Marie Róisín and Mrs Carole Gregory will join our school family in September 2009. They are very experienced Headteachers and also bring valuable experience of having worked as co-Headteachers, and as a team together. Please join with us in welcoming them to Holy Trinity – they will be visiting the school often in the next few months as they get to know us, work through a careful hand-over with Miss May, and learn about Holy Trinity and Chipping Norton. If you see them please introduce yourselves and help make their induction as smooth and friendly as possible.” New sentence “Do look out for the letter before September in which they will be explaining how they will be working together”.

| Miss May is leaving us! |
As you will know it is with regret that Holy Trinity’s Governors reluctantly accepted Miss May’s resignation from her position as Head Teacher, and she will be leaving our school family after the end of the academic year. Mrs Kilbane has also resigned and leaves at the same time. Both Miss May and Mrs Kilbane have given long, devoted and totally committed service to the children and families of Holy Trinity and there is no doubt their leaving will create a huge void in our school family. You can read more via the link below. We have already begun the process to recruit our new Head Teacher and we will keep you abreast of this as and when we are able to in the coming months.

| Welcome to Father Mark |
Since arriving in very early 2000 Fr Frank Hull SJ has been an active and much loved member of our wide Holy Trinity family and so naturally we are sad that he has now decided to take up his very well-deserved full retirement, and has returned to the North of the country.
However we are equally delighted now to welcome to Holy Trinity Rt. Rev. Mark Jabalé OSB who joined us in December 2008 from St Joseph’s Cathedral in Swansea where he was Bishop of the Diocese of Menevia for seven years before his retirement from that office; he is actively settling into our community and quickly finding his way around this new part of the country. I am sure you will make him feel very welcome when you see him in church and school.
You can read more about Father Mark here |

| Staff Changes - January 2009 |
As is always the case changes occur from time to time in our school community and at the beginning of 2009 we have the following news to bring to you. Mrs Griffin begins maternity leave at the end of January 2009 and she will be away for a minimum of two terms; we send our very best wishes to her and her family at this exciting time. Mrs Gill Coleman, who has previously worked with us as a supply teacher, will cover Mrs Griffin’s class and we welcome to her to our school. Also, Ms Sue Thornley left us at the end of 2008 for personal reasons and we thank her for her contributions to Holy Trinity in her time with us since early 2007; we are delighted to announce that Mrs Cathy Biget has been appointed to fulfil this position and she will work with Mrs Sauvagnargues sharing duties in St Peter’s class.
|
| Staff Changes - September 2008 |
Holy Trinity has been very fortunate over the years to have had a great teaching staff, both in terms of their ability, commitment and loyalty, but times come when change is inevitable be it driven by personal circumstances or new career directions; that is the situation now and we have some important news to announce regarding changes to the teaching team from September 2008.
As many of you may already know Mrs Jane Robok Y6 [St Peter's class teacher]
left Holy Trinity at the end of summer term, 2007. We know there will be sadness as she relinquishes her duties after 14 years of quality teaching and caring for Holy Trinity children, but we wish her well in the future.
As most parents will already know Mrs Pauline Wakefield – St Paul’s class,
Year 3 – has now returned to Holy Trinity after her absence through illness, and we are delighted to see her well and back among us.
As some of you may be aware Mrs Denise Dane left the school in July 2007 after many years of valued service, to take up a post with Oxford Brookes University, and we sincerely wish her well in her new venture.
Please join with us in welcoming Miss Emily Hampson who joined Holy Trinity in September 2007, where she assumes responsibility for St. Joseph’s class (Year 4). Emily joins the school team from Oxford Brookes University where she studied for her PGCE following her B Med Sc degree in Behavioural Science from Birmingham University; her area of specialism is science and she also has a keen interest in art, music and maths. Emily previously worked as a Teaching Assistant in Woodstock. In what little free time remains she can be found walking, cooking, reading or even surfing and snowboarding.

| The programme of building of our new classrooms |
 |
The programme of building of our new classrooms and facilities continues after the Christmas break with, as you will know, Phase I (a new classroom) having been completed satisfactorily during the latter part of 2005. |
Phase II, the second new classroom, was completed on time, is looking great, and was occupied by St Andrew's class at the beginning of Autumn term 2006; some minor snagging is in still in hand and we are working actively to resolve this as soon as possible.
The school remains committed to the last building phases which together will deliver the improved facilities we have been planning for and need subject, of course, to access to the necessary substantial funding. We are reassured that Holy Trinity is at the top of Birmingham Diocese's list of schools for such funding and Governors are working actively to ensure this building programme can continue as soon as possible. In the meantime your continued support through the PTA & school events, and your monthly generosity in donating to the School Building Fund are very much appreciated, and can only help speed up these essential works.
As you will all have noticed we are once again able to use the proper entrances to all classrooms, so no traipsing along that stony path any more. The wooden climbing frame and "giant’s causeway steps” remain out-of-bounds for safety’s sake, and we apologise for the delay in returning these facilities to the children’s’ use – we are chasing hard to have the new safety surface installed in the near future.
As building work is still not complete the current situation of not using the playground for parking must continue, and the staff and governors are grateful for your ongoing co-operation.
Please do feel welcome to visit at the end of any day, after school, to see the major improvement in facilities the children will soon be enjoying - all you need to do is to sign in, in Reception, for security purposes. |

| School Food |
| We thought it would be useful to publish this here too, so you remain aware of the food your children are being provided with. We are assured by County that all menus, by necessity, comply with Government nutritional standards.

Many of you will know we began our new 2007/08 school year with a brand new and up-to-date kitchen (with thanks to Governors and to Oxfordshire County Council for its vital financial support) providing a wider range of improved school meals for our children. As is often the case they are the best judges in situations like this and the increased numbers choosing to take school-provided meals this term speaks for itself, bolstered by the many positive comments we’ve received from parents and children alike.
UPDATE: New Kitchen – New Cook
There were five very strong applicants for the position of Holy Trinity cook, but the Food for Thought staff were very impressed with the answers given by Mrs Marina Faulkner, so many congratulations to Marina, we hope it will be better than the job in ‘Hell’s Kitchen’. |

| PTA 100 Club |
| The PTA 100 Club is running this year as usual. For the uninitiated this fund raising scheme offers the chance of winning cash prizes every month, and the odds are far better than the lottery! |
|
| Welcome back Miss James! |
| We are delighted to announce that Miss James will be returning to us in September 2006 to replace Mrs Clarke who leaves us, and indeed teaching, at the end of summer term 2006. We take this public opportunity to thank Mrs Clarke for her commitment and loyalty to the school and children, and to wish her the very best. Miss James will teach St Andrew's class (years 5 and 4) and will have special focus on ICT. Please join us in welcoming her in the new academic year |
|
| Welcome Mrs Nolan! |
| We are delighted to welcome Mrs Nolan to Holy Trinity with effect from January 2006. Pauline, who has been a valued member of staff with us before, returns to job share with Mrs Griffin, jointly teaching Year Two. |
