2026 is the National Year of Reading, with the slogan ‘Go All In!’ and at Holy Trinity we intend to!

Why is reading SO IMPORTANT?
Reading helps children dream bigger, think smarter and grow stronger minds. Every time they open a book, they open a door to new ideas and new possibilities.
What are we doing? Every month we shall promote and encourage reading with exciting events, opportunities and activities to bring the fun back to reading. We shall advertise and share these events in this newsletter.
In January, we are launching the Year of Reading to the children, and then in February, we shall be sharing the latest ‘top ten’ children’s book bestsellers and asking the children to vote on their favourite. We shall also be celebrating ‘National Storytelling Week’ and of course in March, it is World Book Day. Watch out for details to come!
What can you do at home? Parents/carers - your role is vital. When children see you reading, listening and showing interest in books, they feel encouraged and motivated. A few minutes spent reading together can create lifelong memories and lifelong learners.
This campaign is not about pressure — it’s about enjoyment and progress.
