World Book Day (March 5th) is fast approaching

This year’s theme is “Reading for pleasure anytime, anywhere!”
!!! Latest data - Only 1 in 3 children and young people aged 8 to 18 say they enjoy reading in their free time.
What are we doing to?
An Extreme Reading Challenge – whilst it’s lovely to read snuggled into your bed or lazing on the sofa, where is the most unusual place you can read a book? Please take a photo and send to your class teacher via Dojo /Tapestry by Monday 2nd March at the latest. Craziest photos will appear in newsletter!
Book Fair competition – design a new book cover for your favourite book (spare paper can be provided by class teacher – children may use any media, no bigger than A4 please). Winners receive a £5 voucher for the Scholastic book fair. Please hand in by Monday 2nd March at the latest!
On the Day!
Thursday 5th March
Please could children dress up as in characters/costumes from a book or Pyjamas – most imaginative/creative from each class wins a certificates and a prize.
Reading café in hall with buddy’s or mixed ages, throughout the day Book tokens handed out for Scholastic Book Fair.
A Mystery Reader quiz and certificates and prizes for the most imaginative/creative dressed from each class.
March 18th – Scholastic Book Fair arrives with over 400 of the latest book titles to choose from, use your £1 book tokens to grab a bargain! Cards accepted via QR code.
Wednesday 18th – EYFS, Year 1
Friday 20th – Year 2, 3 and 4
Monday 23rd – Year 5 and 6
