Chinese New Year – Year of the Fire Horse

Our Reception Class and Year 2 joined together to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Fire Horse. In true Chinese tradition, the children dressed in red and helped to tidy their classrooms, ready to welcome good luck for the year ahead. EYFS embraced the festivities with creativity, making colourful lanterns, horse puppets, and practising writing their names in Chinese characters. Year 2 enjoyed crafting Chinese bookmarks and preparing fortune cookies as special treats for Year 6. In the afternoon, both classes met to enjoy a shared meal of noodles and even joined in with a Chinese‑inspired rendition of “Heads, Shoulders…”, which brought plenty of smiles and laughter.
